Snowpiercer show: 3 Seasons run dates: May 17, 2020 – March 28, 2022
I was hooked from the beginning. I absolutely enjoy this show and the cast every single week. The TV show takes the Snowpiercer concept in a new and welcome direction. The themes, the social issues, the stories….. It’s a mixture of politics, suspense, and sci-fi. There aren’t any obvious loopholes and cliches and it has very good storytelling. Every episode feels like a movie in itself.
The finale for Season 3 was so gripping and beautifully executed.
The characters are well-developed and relatable. I like that the characters aren’t black and white, motivations and alliances shift according to agendas. you can see them oscillating between choosing survival, keeping the status quo and order AND constructing an equalitarian moralistic idealistic society that none of them are ready to embrace due to their inner prejudices and fear.
I feel that each and every single member of the cast embodies their character as if it were actually themselves. Daveed Diggs (Andre Layton, tailie), Jennifer Connelly (Melanie, Snowpiercer engineer), Alison Wright (Ruth, hospitality), Mickey Sumner (Bess, guard) and Lena Hall (Miss Audrey, singer) are all just absolutely amazing. And Sean Bean brings a new kind of fear in our hearts as Mr. Wilford. A villain like no other.
The plot and action move quickly but never feel rushed and I love, love, love the world-building. Good solid plot with quirks and surprises that keep you coming back episode after episode.
The train is a visual delight and really exciting to see it randomly throughout the series from the outside. It’s great CGI.
The show’s premise is so outside of the box and that just makes it so refreshing. I hope the writers can keep each season just as good as the last. Bravo to everyone that is a part of making this show come to life!! Season three just finished and I am on pins and needles waiting for Season four to drop!
I could go on gushing but I’ll end it here by saying if you have not seen it yet, go on and give it a try. You’d be missing out on a great show if you don’t give this a chance. This show has a place in history. To the creators and the writers, you’re making something incredible here.
